KINDER, La. (AP) - The results of a state police investigation into whether Kinder Police Chief Gary Pelican used town credit cards to buy fuel for personal use has been turned over to the state Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Office spokeswoman Laura Gerdes Colligan tells the American Press (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the office received the investigative file, along with a motion for recusal, from the Allen Parish District Attorney’s Office on May 1.
District Attorney Todd Nesom recused himself and his office from handling the matter last month citing potential conflicts of interest and turned the case over to the state
The 52-year-old Pelican was arrested in January for theft over $1,500 and malfeasance after an audit found excessive amounts of fuel purchases made by the Kinder Police Department.
