BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say two people were hurt and more than 50 evacuated after a fire at a Brockton condominium complex.

The 2-alarm fire at The Oaks was reported just after 9 a.m. Sunday.

The Enterprise reports that one resident and one firefighter were treated at the hospital.

Joanna Finiello, who lives in a first-floor unit, says residents heard a woman honking her car horn and yelling “Fire! Fire! Get out!”

A department official says the blaze broke out on the balcony of a third-floor unit and spread to the attic, resulting in smoke and water damage to several units, although the exact cause remains under investigation.

More than 50 people were evacuated from 26 units. Damage was estimated at $800,000 and some people may be out of their homes for months.
