SITKA, Alaska (AP) - The new principal at Sitka High School has had a busy retirement.

Karen Macklin retired four years ago as Sitka’s special education director.

The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports (https://is.gd/v5eHok) she then went to work as a legal assistant in Tacoma, Washington. She then went back to Sitka, where she served as the assistant high school principal the past year.

She has spent 30 years in education, and has worked with every teacher except one at Sitka High School. She calls them “all familiar folks.”

Macklin replaces Dr. PJ Ford Slack, who has retired after spending four years on the job.
