CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Cheyenne Animal Control officers have taken 53 dogs from a woman who was transporting the dogs in a trailer.

Debbie Lee, of Cheyenne Animal Control, says the local law allows a person to have up to four pets.

Lee tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that (https://bit.ly/1fZ5SiW ) that the woman had a total of 57 dogs, so they allowed her to keep four.



Animal Control says the overall health of a number of the dogs was poor.

Court records indicate that the woman involved has a lengthy history of charges related to animal welfare, mostly in California.

Bob Fecht, of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, says shelter was caring for the dogs for now.
