MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - Moss Point Police Chief Keith Davis says the city jail will close and inmates will be moved to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
WLOX-TV (https://bit.ly/1keUV1Z ) reports Davis confirmed the planned moves Friday. He has said previously that he believes the jail is outdated and in poor condition.
The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1tvAGxN ) reports the Board of Alderman voted for the transfer at its last meeting following a discussion in executive session.
Davis says an exact date as to when the city jail will close has not yet been determined.
He referred further requests for comment to the mayor’s office, which he says likely will address the issue at a later time.
