INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis police officer who was wounded by a gunman has been released from the hospital.

Lt. Christopher Bailey said that 10-year police force veteran Greg Milburn was released following treatment Friday.

Milburn was shot by a gunman while responding to a report of a woman screaming on the city’s east side. Police say the bullet struck Milburn’s protective vest.

Other officers found the gunman dead following the shooting about 7:15 a.m. Friday, but it wasn’t immediately clear how the man was killed.

Two women were found dead in the nearby home. Police haven’t said how they died.
