MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - The Delaware State Police says troopers seized eight pounds of marijuana during a Middletown traffic stop.

State police say they stopped a speeding vehicle Tuesday just before midnight on southbound Route 1 in the area of Pole Bridge Road. State police say troopers then noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Troopers say that when a passenger stepped out a small of amount of marijuana fell from his shirt. Troopers searched the car and found more than eight pounds of marijuana in the trunk.



State police identified the vehicle’s driver as 24-year-old Steven Verley of Millsboro and his passenger as 26-year-old Dontel Brown of Seaford.

A message left at a telephone number for Brown was not immediately returned. Verley did not appear to have a listed number.
