TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police say an employee at a Walgreens store in Tucson is recovering after being stabbed during a shoplifting attempt.

Sgt. Chris Widmer says the employee was taken to a hospital Friday night with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.

Widmer says officers responded to the Walgreens just before 8:30 p.m.

He says a male suspect attempted to shoplift merchandise and the worker followed him out of the store.

Authorities say they got into a physical altercation and that’s when the suspect allegedly stabbed him in the leg.

Widmer says the suspect fled on foot and police have detained someone.

No arrests have been made.
