DOVER, N.H. (AP) - A woman who lives in the same apartment building where a University of New Hampshire coed was killed testified she heard a blood-curdling scream the night of the killing.

WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/RGWyKc) reports that Rosemary Macione of Dover was among more than a half dozen witnesses who testified Thursday in the first-degree murder trial of Seth Mazzaglia (muh-ZAYL-yuh). She testified that she heard a scream but did not call police.

Prosecutors say Mazzaglia raped and killed 19-year-old Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott of Westborough, Massachusetts at his apartment Oct. 9, 2012.

Mazzaglia has pleaded not guilty. His lawyer said Mazzaglia’s former girlfriend - Kathryn McDonough - killed Marriott during rough sex.

McDonough has pleaded guilty to lesser charges. She is serving 1 ½ to 3 years in prison and is expected to testify.

Testimony resumes Friday.
