SOCASTEE, S.C. (AP) - Police and prosecutors have decided not to charge a juvenile who stabbed a man in the neck.
Horry County Police say the juvenile saw a man dragging a woman and hitting her in the face around 10 p.m. Wednesday at a home in Socastee. Investigators say the juvenile grabbed a knife, stabbing the man once.
Authorities say 41-year-old Derrick Moore died a short time later at the hospital.
Horry County Police Lt. Robert Kegler says investigators consulted with prosecutors and decided no charges should be filed because it was a justifiable homicide. The case is now closed.
Police did not release the juvenile’s name, age or gender or any relationship with the woman being attacked.
