WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington has a new police chief.
A local union official told The News Journal (https://delonline.us/1iviGye ) Thursday that Bobby Cummings has been selected as the city’s next police chief. Police union President Harold Bozeman told the paper that Cummings confirmed the selection. The paper says mayor Dennis Williams could not immediately be reached for comment. He has said he would announce the new chief Friday.
WDEL-AM reported the hiring first Thursday, citing anonymous sources.
Cummings has been the city’s interim chief, filling the position left by former chief Christine Dunning, who left office in January.
