OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - State police say a Lafayette teenager died when his Jeep ran off the road and overturned while he was being chased by Opelousas police.

Trooper Stephen Hammons identified the victim as 15-year-old Deontei Fuselier.

Hammons says the accident happen on Louisiana Highway 357 in Opelousas.



He says Fuselier was spotted by Opelousas police driving the wrong way on U.S. 190 about 4 a.m. Tuesday, and officers pursued him after he refused to stop.

Troopers say two of the passengers were treated for moderate injuries, and a third was listed in critical condition.
