FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) - The Humvee taken from a southern Missouri county has been found, but the man suspected of taking it is still missing.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Missouri (https://bit.ly/1rgjPmW ) reports that a Humvee was taken several weeks ago from the St. Francois County Road and Bridge Department, then used in a smash-and-grab crime at a restaurant in Ste. Genevieve County. Authorities say the vehicle was found about 40 miles outside of Jacksonville, Florida.
Sheriff Dan Bullock says the vehicle had been driven at a fast speed, causing engine damage. He is asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect.
The county acquired the camouflaged Humvee through a Defense Department program.
