RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Highway Patrol says at least 16 people were killed in traffic accidents during the Memorial Day weekend.

The holiday weekend began at 6 p.m. last Friday and ended at midnight Monday.

Two of the fatal accidents occurred in Robeson County.



Last year, the patrol reported 14 deaths during the holiday period.
