SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - The Sumter County Veterans’ Association is honoring the nation’s fallen with a ceremony at Buford Mabry Park.

Retired Maj. Gen. William “Dutch” Holland, the former commander of the 9th Air Force based at Shaw Air Force Base, is the guest speaker at the event at 11 a.m. Monday.

Army Col. Tripp Jensen also is attending. He is representing the forces of U.S. Army Central stationed on Shaw Air Force Base outside Sumter.



At noon, the South Sumter Community is holding a fish fry to celebrate the holiday with friends and family members.

The event is being held at South Sumter Park until 4 p.m.
