GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The Washington County Office of Emergency Management has set up an online storm-shelter registry for residents to provide information about their safe places so first responders can locate and assist them in an emergency.

Deputy Emergency Manager Tammy Reed tells the Delta Democrat Times (https://bit.ly/1ofFmdb ) the registry helps to strengthen storm preparedness.

Reed says local residents can submit the address, type and additional location information for their individual shelters.

She says the registry is a further step in the emergency department’s efforts to safeguard residents in the event of a severe storm or other emergency.
