WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - Detectives are investigating the death of a 92-year-old Waterville man as a homicide.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Sunday that Aurele Fecteau’s death is being investigated as a homicide based on an autopsy performed Saturday.

He says that investigators remain at the home gathering evidence and interviewing neighbors, friends and family.

Authorities say Fecteau was found dead at his home on Friday by a family member. McCausland says he lived alone in the home.

McCausland said Saturday that investigators gathered evidence from the inside of the home that might explain Fecteau’s death.
