NEW YORK (AP) - The leader of a violent crew of New York City area armed robbers has been ordered to serve 60 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara (buh-RAH’-ruh) says Friday’s sentence is “a fitting end” to Louis McIntosh’s criminal career.
The 32-year-old McIntosh was convicted in August 2013 on nine counts stemming from a series of robberies in 2009 through 2012.
Bharara says McIntosh pistol-whipped and tortured victims while robbing them.
He says McIntosh and other co-conspirators held a Long Island business owner at gunpoint, tied him up and assaulted him repeatedly with a stun gun in September 2010.
He says the next month McIntosh pistol-whipped two victims and discharged a firearm while members of his crew robbed a card game at a men’s club in Poughkeepsie.
