CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Two Cranston police recruits who graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy are set to begin their first shift the day after Memorial Day.

Officers Daniel Jimenez-Garcia, of Providence, and Russell Henry, of Cranston, took an oath of office shortly after graduating on Friday.

Mayor Allan Fung administered the oath at Cranston City Hall. Henry was presented with his new badge by his father, Cranston police Lt. Russell Henry Jr.

Jimenez Garcia and Henry will begin their first shift on Tuesday, when they are scheduled to work with a field-training officer.
