MARYDEL, Del. (AP) - Utilities are reporting fewer than 100 customers in Delaware still without power a morning after a storm’s damaging winds damaged dozens of homes and injured two people.
Delaware Electric Cooperative is reporting about 90 customers in the dark on Friday morning. DEC spokesman Jeremy Tucker says that’s down from about 2,500 affected customers at the peak Thursday.
Tucker says the remaining outages are in the areas hardest hit by the storm, but officials hope to restore power Friday. He says storms like Thursday’s are rare in the area and the damage is the worst they’ve seen in a while.
Delmarva Power is reporting a handful of outages in New Castle County early Friday. Spokesman Nick Morici says the utility had about 700 outages in Delaware and Maryland at the peak.
