CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Gov. Matt Mead’s office has released a plan that seeks to capitalize on Wyoming’s natural resources and create jobs.
Under the proposal, Wyoming will seek ways to develop large-scale industrial projects that encourage processing and conversion of natural gas, coal, bentonite, trona, rare earth elements and other resources in the state.
The idea is to locate processing plants in Wyoming rather than exporting the raw commodities for processing in other states.
Mead says in a statement that it will be a long process but needs to start now with the appointment of several task forces.
One task force will look at an integrated test center designed to develop new beneficial uses for carbon dioxide and the others will work to gain industry perspectives and look at regulation, infrastructure and planning.
