ATLANTA (AP) - University System of Georgia officials say an interim president has been chosen to lead Southern Polytechnic State University.

Officials say Ron Koger, current SPSU vice president for student and enrollment services, has been selected to temporarily fill the position. Officials say the university’s president, Lisa Rossbacher, is stepping down this summer and will become president of Humboldt State University in Arcata, California.

Koger will begin his new role July 1 and will stay in that role until SPSU and Kennesaw State University merge in January 2015.

Officials say Koger has been in his position with the university since 2000 and served as vice president of enrollment management between 1997 and 2000. Before working at SPSU, Koger served as vice president for enrollment services and taught at the University of Alabama.
