SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) - A community meeting has been scheduled in Sedona to update visitors and residents on a wildfire burning in nearby Oak Creek Canyon.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Sedona High School Performing Arts Center.
Hundreds of firefighters are battling the blaze that started Tuesday about five miles north of Sedona, just north of Slide Rock State Park. It has scorched more than 11 ½ square miles in the scenic recreation zone along a winding highway between Sedona and Flagstaff.
Fire officials say the blaze isn’t spreading toward Sedona. But some business owners are worried that it could mean fewer tourists over the normally busy Memorial Day holiday.
