COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Emergency Management Agency says it is working with officials of three northeast Ohio counties where emergencies were declared because of flood damage from last week’s storms.
The agency says it is helping assess damage in Lorain, Medina (meh-DY’-nuh) and Summit counties. Emergencies were declared at the county level, but none has requested resources that would require a governor’s emergency declaration.
The state agency is urging residents and businesses with storm damage to contact the Renew Rebuild Ohio Loan Program, which assists homeowners with long-term, low-interest loans.
State emergency managers also have been deployed after heavy rain and flooding in western Ohio closed parts of Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 for hours late Wednesday and early Thursday.
