KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) - A rabbit is the lone casualty of a fire that engulfed part of a Central Texas church school.
Teachers at New Beginnings Church in Kerrville safely evacuated classrooms when a fire broke out Thursday morning. Firefighters put out the blaze, which has spread to two classrooms.
But a rabbit named Cupcake didn’t make it.
Meagan McInnis, daughter of the church’s pastor, told the Kerrville Daily Times (https://bit.ly/Spw0Oz) that the rabbit belonged to her daughter, but that the school’s kindergarteners were raising it as their own.
Local firefighters are now raising money to get a new rabbit.
Kerrville is 100 miles west of Austin.
