GRETNA, La. (AP) - Jefferson Parish officials say the fate of a pit bull dog that seriously injured a 4-year-old girl and two other people in Waggaman last week will be decided though a hearing.
Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1nroD2R ) the 5-year-old dog is being held at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter. The dog is nearing the end of a 10-day bite quarantine, which began shortly after the May 14 attack.
A Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office incident report states that the dog was in the bedroom of a home with her litter of puppies when a resident of the home opened the door.
The dog bit a 33-year-old woman on the leg and bit a 37-year-old woman on the forearm. The report says the little girl’s arm was broken when the dog bit her.
