SWANTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are investigating a chemical spill at a Tractor Supply store in Swanton that sent five employees to the hospital for possible inhalation of toxic fumes.

The store was evacuated on Thursday shortly before 2 p.m.

Police say the state of Vermont HazMat Team was sent to the store to mitigate the chemical release.

Authorities say the initial investigation indicated suspicious circumstances. Police have released a photo of two men seen leaving the store who they say may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone who may have been in the store before the spill, or may have information about it, is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-524-5993.

The five employees were expected to be treated and released from the Northwest Medical Center.
