KOTLIK, Alaska (AP) - A search is underway in the village of Kotlik (KAHT’-lik) for a 4-year-old boy missing since Monday.

Alaska State Troopers say parents of the boy reported him missing. He had been playing with a friend and did not return home Monday night.

Kotlik police called troopers Tuesday. Troopers from Emmonak (ee-MAHN’-ik), Bethel, Anchorage and Saint Marys traveled to assist with the search by local volunteers and rescue groups.



A trooper airplane is assisting in the search.

Ground searchers looked throughout the village and the banks of the nearby river and slough. Kotlik is a village of 650 about 165 miles northwest of Bethel.
