MANTENO, Ill. (AP) - The village of Manteno (man-TEEN’-oh) in north-central Illinois is planning a downtown makeover.

Construction is set to start this summer on a pedestrian plaza along Main Street in Manteno. The Daily Journal in Kankakee reports (https://bit.ly/1lDqgIj ) village officials hope it will be an anchor for downtown.

The project is to cost $320,000. It will include a fountain, seating and planters.



Manteno has about 9,200 residents. It is about 50 miles south of downtown Chicago in Kankakee County.
