SULPHUR, Okla. (AP) - The Chickasaw Nation is holding the first-ever Artesian Arts Festival this weekend to celebrate art from Southeastern Indian tribes.

Saturday’s event will feature paintings, basketry, jewelry, sculptures and more from artists from various tribes, including the Chickasaw, Choctaw, Cherokee and Creek nations.

Some of the artists will be demonstrating their craft.



Food vendors and music ranging from a traditional Native flute performance to country music will also be a part of the entertainment.

The festival runs 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Artesian Plaza in Sulphur.
