NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Tulane University has announced a $6 million plan to create 60 endowed scholarship funds in honor of retiring Tulane President Scott Cowen.

Lead gifts are coming from Tulane supporters Louellen and Darryl Berger; Valerie Zondorak and Michael Corasaniti; and Jill and Avie Glazer. The university said in a Tuesday news release that they are putting up $3 million in matching gifts for scholarship students.

Cowen steps down June 30 after 16 years as Tulane’s president.
