PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A mistrial has been declared in the Philadelphia murder trial of reputed mob hit man.
The district attorney’s office said Tuesday that the mistrial in the case of 42-year-old Anthony Nicodemo is due to “issues involving a juror.”
No further details were released.
The district attorney’s office said a hearing to set a new trial date is scheduled for July and a gag order in the case remains in effect.
Nicodemo has been in custody since his 50-year-old neighbor Gino DiPietro was gunned down outside his home in December 2012.
Defense attorney Brian McMonagle said his client had nothing to do with the killing. He said DiPietro was the victim of a botched carjacking.
