WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Officials say a house fire in Wilmington that caused $80,000 in damage was accidental.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire on Hitching Post Drive was reported about 1 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home.

Residents were able to escape uninjured after being alerted by a smoke detector.

Investigators say the fire began in the home’s basement and was caused by a malfunction in a dehumidifier.
