DRAPER, Utah (AP) - A Draper man has been charged with murder and a half dozen other charges including drunken driving in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of a mother of five and injured seven other people.
Prosecutors say 44-year-old Bill Thompson had been drinking for days and was involved in a domestic dispute with two women at his home before he sped off May 8.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/py4phga) he allegedly raced past a 16-year-old girl in a Mini Cooper in an emergency lane on Interstate 15, then rammed the side of her car after both exited at Bangerter Highway.
Moments later police say he ran a red light and hit an SUV, killing 43-year-old Susan Madsen and critically injuring her daughter.
The wreck caused a pileup involving seven other motorists.
