AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The victim of a weekend car crash in Augusta has been identified as a woman from Weld.

Police say 21-year-old Karen Schwartz was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Route 17 at about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the car went off the road and into the woods, striking a tree.



Schwartz was driving.

Her passenger, 26-year-old Kasey Toothaker, of Weld, taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Where he was listed in critical condition on Sunday afternoon.

The accident remains under investigation.
