On his way to a Democratic party fundraiser on Monday night, President Obama stopped at Washington’s Friendship Park and tossed a baseball with Little Leaguers warming up for their evening games.
The president met with four Little League teams and posed for pictures with the youngsters.
“It’s a great day for baseball,” Mr. Obama said, after tossing a ball to a 10-year-old catcher behind home plate.
After a roughly 12-minute visit, the president departed.
“Back to drills. You got a game to play,” he said just before leaving.
Mr. Obama’s impromptu visit — which wasn’t part of president’s public schedule — comes three days before he’ll visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., to talk about the economy.
After leaving Friendship Park, Mr. Obama headed to a fundraiser in Potomac, Md., at the home of Dr. Jeffrey Drezner and his wife, Lora. The event will raise money for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Tickets ranged from $10,000 per person to $32,400 per couple.
