PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania school superintendent charged with drunk driving after he allegedly forced a police car off the road has been admitted to a program for first-time offenders.
Trinity Area School District superintendent Paul Kasunich was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program Friday in Alleghany County Common Pleas Court. The 55-year-old administrator was charged in February after being pulled over in Ohio Township.
Police said Kasunich nearly hit a police cruiser after crossing over the center line. A hospital test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.207, more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Defense lawyer Robert Del Greco says he hopes his client will be allowed to return to work at the Washington County district. Kasunich had been suspended with pay after his arrest.
