SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 35-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a car near the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1jpGtF9 ) that Jeffrey M. Proietti, of Syracuse, was hit from behind as he was running with 15 other people Saturday morning.

State police say the car that hit Proietti had veered off onto the right shoulder of the road.



Proietti was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

State police have not decided whether the driver will face charges.
