Off-duty Houston firefighter dies in cycling wreck

HOUSTON (AP) - An off-duty Houston firefighter has died after his bicycle hit a truck trailer that was hauling landscaping equipment.

Houston Fire Department Capt. W. Mark Braswell died following the accident Friday afternoon in northwest Harris County.

Investigators say the bicycle that Braswell was riding hit the back of a rig. The firefighter was transported to a Houston hospital, where he died.

Officials say Braswell had been with the Houston Fire Department for 20 years. He also was a member of the Cypress Fair Volunteer Fire Department.
