TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a 63-year-old man is dead after a speeding vehicle rear-ended another in a Tucson intersection.
Tucson police spokesman Chris Widmer says officers responded Saturday around 2:35 a.m. to the scene of a collision.
Widmer says a Dodge Charger overtook and then hit a Volkswagon, causing it to veer off the roadway and into a dirt shoulder.
The Dodge Charger continued speeding but then lost control, spinning off the road.
According to Widmer, Juan Lorenzo Avila-Arce was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say 21-year-old Jean P. Villena-Celis, the driver of the Dodge Charger, showed signs of intoxication.
He has been booked into Pima County Jail for one count of second-degree murder and one count of criminal damage.
