GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A judge must decide whether to order separate trials on in two cases against the girlfriend of a western Pennsylvania man killed after a standoff with police last summer.

Twenty-six-year-old Julian Upholster of Latrobe is accused of having stolen two guns from her roommate and giving them to 46-year-old Scott Murphy. Authorities allege that Murphy used the handgun in a pharmacy robbery and had both weapons with him in the nearly 17-hour standoff in which a trooper was wounded and he was killed.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/1jP2cWf ) reports that prosecutors argued Thursday that the facts are identical in both cases.

Defense attorney Michael Ferguson argued that trying the cases together wouldn’t allow his client to testify in her defense about one case and remain silent about the other.
