LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An exhibition of blown glass by artist Dale Chihuly will make its debut to the public this weekend at the Clinton Presidential Center, and Hillary Rodham Clinton was attending its opening gala on Friday night.
Four major glass works by Chihuly were to be on display in both indoor and outdoor spaces in an invitation-only reception on Friday night at the Clinton Center.
Chihuly - known for his use of shape and color in creating glass structures - has had his art featured in museums and galleries around the world, including a glass piece that’s in the Clinton Center’s permanent collection.
One of the tallest works featured in the exhibition is called the “Sea Blue and Green Tower,” a structure made of 700 spiraled glass pieces and reaching a height of 15 feet. Around 20 glass pieces - some resembling large clams - are spotlighted in another room in the center.
Exhibition Director Britt Cornett, of Chihuly’s studio, said people shouldn’t try to assign specific water creatures when viewing the glass works, saying its “whatever your imagination conjures.”
The exhibition will run through Jan. 5.
