TripAdvisor has ranked Georgia and North Carolina as Nos. 1 and 2 in its list of best places to get barbecue in America.

Texas had to settle for bronze. It isn’t happy.

ABC affiliate WFAA reports that Texas barbecue is cooked so well that no sauce is needed, but no one told TripAdvisor.

“Highly suspect! Is there any legitimate list where Texas would not be No. 1?” the affiliate said in its story, which quotes a Georgia resident as saying Texas is still No. 1.

The burgeoning scandal has even reached the Lone Star State’s power brokers in Washington.

Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, tweeted: “If your ’best barbecue’ list doesn’t have Texas at the top … your list is wrong.”
