BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The Kootenai County Sheriff’s office says a small plane carrying two passengers crashed Wednesday evening as it approached a runway.

The sheriff’s office says the two people inside the plane - 73-year-old Terry L. Holman from Spokane and his 28-year-old son, Brian C. Holman - suffered only cuts and scrapes.

Holman told deputies he left from Felt Field, Washington and was on his way to the Coeur d’Alene Airport. He says the plane’s engine stalled as they approached the airport.

Federal authorities are now investigating.

The sheriff’s office says this was Holman’s first crash since starting to fly in 1960.
