PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking that flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset in South Dakota in honor of fallen law enforcement officers.

President Barack Obama has declared Thursday as Peace Officers Memorial Day. This week also is designated as National Police Week.

Daugaard says state residents should honor the contributions and sacrifices made by law officers.
