SANDY, Utah (AP) - Sandy police are investigating a home invasion by two armed men who were dressed as police officers and said they were searching for drugs.
Sandy City Police Sgt. Jon Arnold says the two masked-men knocked on the door at an apartment southeast of Salt Lake City and identified themselves as police officers shortly after midnight Tuesday.
When the resident opened the door, the suspects armed with assault rifles burst in, forced the man on the ground and beat him while demanding he turn over his drugs. When they couldn’t find any, they fled the apartment in opposite directions.
The victim says they were wearing shirts that said “police.” He was not seriously injured.
The Deseret News reports (https://tinyurl.com/lb8zqb3) the real police searched the apartment but didn’t find any drugs either.
