Vermont forestry chief to talk about pond’s future

GUILFORD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s top forestry official is planning to visit Guilford to talk about the future of a waterway that was drained.

Vermont Forests, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Michael Snyder is expected to visit Guilford on Wednesday to tell local officials the department is committed to restoring Sweet Pond, which was drained three years ago because of problems with the dam that created it.

An engineering study estimates it would cost about $330,000 to restore the dam.
