WEST MONROE, La. (AP) - West Monroe’s Board of Aldermen has named Tom Hamilton to replace longtime Alderman Fred Ragland, who resigned last week after moving to Monroe.
Ragland was first elected alderman in 1978, the same year Dave Norris was elected mayor. He left West Monroe for a period to follow his career, but returned and was re-elected.
The News-Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/1oqUrs1 ) Norris nominated Hamilton during Tuesday’s board meeting.
Ragland was just re-elected this spring, so Hamilton will serve as an interim alderman until one can be elected during the Nov. 4 election.
Norris said he didn’t know if Hamilton would run for the position.
