OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) - Olive Branch officials are expected next week to adopt an updated building code that dictates standards for residential construction within the city.

Consideration to adopt the 2012 International Residential Code was tabled earlier to make sure construction officials were aware of the upcoming update. A memo has since been provided at the city planning department to all builders.

The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/T1Asno ) the Board of Aldermen is expected to vote on the new code at its May 20 meeting.

Mayor Scott Phillips says new codes are adopted every three years and Olive Branch is currently using the 2009 code adopted a few years ago.
