DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - A 68-year-old Decatur man is charged with assault after shooting a teen who activated the motion detector light outside his house.

Decatur police said in an incident report that Willie Jones woke up early Wednesday and saw the 15-year-old boy standing near his parked pickup truck.

Police say Williams grabbed his gun and shot at the teen, who had turned to run away. Police say the boy was wounded in his buttocks and was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Jones was in no immediate danger or threat of danger when he shot the boy. Jones is being held on $2,500 bond at the Morgan County jail.

It’s unclear if Jones has an attorney, and a message left at his house was not immediately returned.
